Day 176 Eden's Family of Choice

July 1, 2015
Day 176

Today, in our small town, a family opened wide their arms and pulled a little girl close into their inner circle. Her name is Eden and today, legally, her last name became Mohler. She is a sweet little thing and has been a part of the Mohler family since her birth. She, fortunately, has not known anything different. To her little brain, to not be a Mohler would not have been right.

This family is not afraid of long, hard, emotional journeys. They are veterans of this process, this is their second adopted child and they are working on their third. The wait, the wonder, the emotional attachment that could be shaken, and all of the back and forth visitations, is a drain on a family. But they vulnerably do it in hopes of a day like today when the journey ends in a forever knot of love.

Those of us close to this family have been privileged to watch love in action. They live out sound doctrine in a way that fleshes out the gospel speaking louder than a sermon. Yes, they know there are risks involved. Yes, they know this adds strain on their family unit. They do this with eyes wide open. Why? This is what Jesus would do.

Welcome, Eden! We are grateful for the Hand that led you to this family and community. We know that you will flourish. You are a sweet little girl. And now that your adoption is final, we pray that your adoption into the Family of God will be finalized in the near future as well. Your new mommy and daddy will help lead you to your heavenly Father.
